Religious hatred between Muslims and Christians - Nigeria
There was total silence, apart from birdsong, when we entered the village of Kuru Karama. Every building had been burnt or destroyed. There were no villagers in sight, just two or three soldiers at a guard post dozing in the late afternoon sun.
At length, we found a group of young men and women. Did they live here? Yes. Had they been here on the day of the massacre?
No, they knew nothing. Were they Christian or Muslim? Christian. They bent their heads and one woman placed her hand over her mouth.
Finally, we came across Abdullah. He took us to a little square and pointed out some of the wells into which the Christian killers had thrown scores of dead bodies, their heads downwards.
Some of the bodies were so decomposed that they could not be removed. The stench of death seeped out of the wells.
Abdullah pointed to a sewage pit, now covered with concrete blocks. He told us that the attackers had thrown 30 children in, between six months and three years old. This pit was now their unmarked grave.
All around were burnt patches on the ground in the shape of human bodies, where the attackers had hacked down their victims, poured fuel on them, then set them alight.
Abdullah had been away in town on the day of the attack, and returned later to discover that he had lost 13 family members, including his wife.
He broke down as he told us how, when he helped to pull her body out of a well, he saw that her face had been mutilated. He could only recognise her by her clothes.
Later, talking to survivors, all of who had fled to neighbouring towns and villages, we pieced together much of what had happened. At 8.30am rumours circulated of an impending assault.
A meeting of local imams, pastors and community leaders was called at once - but the police and district chief dismissed their fears. At around 10.30am three vans parked outside the village and gangs of young men, and some women, emerged.
Their faces ware painted red and they were chanting 'kill, kill, kill'. Far from intervening, the local policemen, so we were told, joined in.
Armed with guns and machetes, the mob went systematically from house to house. At 6.30pm, about the time of sunset, a whistle was blown and the killers obediently got back into their vans, leaving more than 170 dead and others horribly mutilated. There have been no arrests, and no charges have been pressed.
Well over 1,000 people have been killed just this year, and there is no prospect at all of the carnage abating.

Friendship request on Youtube
Oh how I wish there were more openminded youngsters around.
This is what she has to say in her 'About Me' section...
We all came from Africa? (a fictional letter to our liberal professors)
so you have a fervent belief that we all evolved from black people? Interesting. So the chronology goes something like this , 1. apes 2. blacks. 3. white man? hmm. though this postulation obviously has a subtle implication that glorifies blacks, its only serves to increase the prevalence of the sentiment that blacks are inferior. here we have a patent hidden agenda under the guise of science, however it inadvertently leads me to a conclusion that you would consider lamentable.
i would bet that if one celled organisms had conciseness, they would (in their lack of self worth) pride themselves in being our ancestors.
AMOEBA 1-"those humans are extraordinary",
AMOEBA 2-"yes, they obtain far superior cognitive abilities"
[and just as they are about to develop an inferiority complex]
AMOEBA 3-"yea but they all evolved from us"
also, i view it as contradicting that you liberal professors reject creationism and embrace the concept evolution, though you promote the myth that all races are equal and that "genetic differences among the races are only skin deep" if you could free yourself from the shackles of your progressive dogma and for one minute think objectively (without being corrupted by morality), you would then see that this is not how evolution has worked. on the contrary, it has created a marvelous variety of species, and within these species are varieties of breeds. each breed with its own advantageous (or detrimental) characteristics . so any talk that i hear in academia of "equality among the races", just results in me thinking that the source is either A. completely indoctrinated and utterly incapable of independent thought, or B. knows its nonsense, but wants to believe/pretend its true, or C. knows its nonsense but does not want to get fired.
when confronted with this self evident truth that all men are not equal, you professors are really savvy, and quickly and cunningly divert the conversation with red herrings, straw man arguments and semantics games. "Dont you think we should all be treated equal?" you retort with condescension in your voice. Yes, these elementary tactics seem to work well on the weak minds in your universities. They exalt you like a god, and attend class with seraphic naivety to listen to you pontificate , but fortunately not everyone is as easily manipulated as these obtuse stalwarts.
it should also be noted that you don’t seem to have an issue when races are better than whites at something (e.g. basketball or other physical sports that involve running). it is when one states that whites are better at something (e.g. inventing, discovering or other attributes that involve mental faculties)that you have a problem. Any talk of whites excelling in any particular field, is subsequently deemed racist. Indeed you promote slave morality, you believe that a culture that is responsible for most of the technology we take for granted today, should feel shame, and inversely a culture that has created nothing more than the pinata, should feel pride. It is obvious to any rational mind that your system of education is merely a system of control, and it is not about truth one iota. and just as you invert morality, i have inverted your grading system, all the dutiful imbeciles are getting straight a's, the geniuses are sent for a psychiatric evaluation, and those who would question before reiterating your gospel, well they don’t stand a chance do they?
in regards to your response to this letter, my suggestion is that you do what you do best......................focus on the grammar. leave the ideas to the autodidact. your soon to be labelled misanthropic student (ripe for the madhouse) parson.

1 in 10 living in Britain are foreign nationals

The number of immigrants living in Britain has almost doubled in less than three decades, official figures show.
More than 10 per cent of the population - 6.7million - were born abroad, the Office for National Statistics has found.
The analysis shows that the count of those born abroad - now agreed to be the best figure for measuring the rate of immigration - is two million higher than it was just eight years ago.
And the figure is nearly double the 3.38million people born abroad who were recorded as living in Britain in 1981.
The scale of immigration over the past few years was set out in a breakdown by National Statistician Jil Matheson, the recently-appointed head of the Government's Office for National Statistics.
She said that there are 689,000 migrants from Eastern Europe in Britain, an increase of 522,000 since Poland and seven other Eastern European countries joined the EU in 2004.
But these make up only one in ten of the foreign-born population of the country, Miss Matheson found.
She also endorsed the ONS projections that say that the UK population will hit the politically sensitive 70million mark in 2029.
She added the recession is likely to have only a small impact on the record levels of immigration since 2001.
The ONS report found that Eastern Europeans have begun to emigrate as well as to arrive in Britain, and overall 20,000 more Eastern Europeans came to this country than left it in 2008.
Current research, Miss Matheson added, suggests that 'a short-term period of falling immigration can be expected, before immigration levels rise again to pre-recession levels'.
She concluded: 'The current recession is likely to have a small and temporary effect on net migration.'
Her findings run counter to assurances from Gordon Brown and Immigration Minister Phil Woolas that the new Home Office points-based immigration system will curb numbers coming into the country and the 70million population mark will never be reached.
Sir Andrew Green, of the Migrationwatch think-tank, said: 'This report confirms the massive impact of immigration on our population under the present Government.
'It must be brought under control, but so far Government policies are completely inadequate for the purpose.'
However, Border and Immigration Minister Phil Woolas said: 'These population projections do not take into account the impact of future government policies or those Eastern Europeans who came here, contributed, and are now going home.
'Projections are uncertain. For instance in the 1960s they said our population would reach 76million by the year 2000, this was off target by 16million.'
He added: 'And let's be clear the category "foreign-born mothers" includes British people born overseas - such as children whose parents are in the armed forces or those who come to Britain at a very early age.'
Previous research counted the number of foreign passport holders, but with many being granted British citizenship counting those who are foreign born is now thought to give the most accurate figure.
The findings on the scale of immigration follow evidence that the arrival of large numbers of migrant workers has pushed down wages and living standards for low-paid workers.
A report last week by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation charity found that the poorest-paid working families have been getting poorer and suffering greater unemployment not since the onset of recession, but from 2004 onwards during a time of economic boom.
