35 radicals trained for terrorism at British mosques

Britain's mosques became an international haven for extremists who enjoyed state benefits while being trained for terrorism, leaked documents show.

The WikiLeaks files, written by U.S. military chiefs, reveal that at least 35 Guantanamo terrorists were radicalised in London mosques before being sent to fight against the West.

This is believed to be more than any other Western country.

Of these, just 17 were British nationals or had been granted asylum, while 18 had travelled from abroad – cementing Britain’s reputation as a global training camp for terrorists.

U.S. intelligence officers describe Finsbury Park mosque, in North London, as a ‘haven for Islamic extremists from Morocco and Algeria’ and ‘an attack planning and propaganda production base’.

After their UK trip they were then flown to Pakistan and Afghanistan where they were taught to fight and make bombs. The leaked documents also show that an Al Qaeda ‘assassin’ accused of bombing two churches and a luxury hotel in Pakistan was at the same time working for MI6.

Adil Hadi al Jazairi Bin Hamlili was captured in 2003 and sent to Guantanamo Bay where interrogators were convinced that he was an informer for British intelligence.

U.S. intelligence reports describe the 35-year-old Algerian citizen as a ‘facilitator, courier, kidnapper, and assassin for Al Qaeda’. CIA interrogators found him ‘to have withheld important information from …British Secret Intelligence Service … and to be a threat to U.S. and allied personnel in Afghanistan and Pakistan’.

He has been returned to Algeria but it is not clear whether he will stand trial there.

REVENGE PLOT TO NUKE BRITAIN

Interrogators at Guantanamo Bay uncovered serious plots to unleash chemical and nuclear weapons on the West, the WikiLeaks documents show.

According to detainees’ confessions, Al Qaeda mastermind Kalid Sheikh Mohammed claimed they had hidden a nuclear bomb in Britain which would be detonated if Osama Bin Laden was captured or killed.

Detainees admitted that Mohammed, currently facing trial over the 9/11 terrorist attacks, was involved in a plot to attack U.S. atomic plants and unleash a ‘nuclear hellstorm’.

According to the files, a Libyan detainee and close friend of Bin Laden, Abu Al-Libi, ‘has knowledge of Al Qaeda possibly possessing a nuclear bomb’.

Another told his interrogators the bombers would be ‘Europeans of Arab or Asian descent’.

The WikiLeaks documents, published by the Daily Telegraph, also reveal that 16 detainees sent back to Britain were regarded as ‘high risk’ by the U.S. authorities and capable of plotting acts of terror.

Yet each has been paid £1million of public money by the Government to compensate them for their unlawful detention.

The documents point to the crucial role played by London-based preachers such as Abu Qatada and Abu Hamza in the suspected indoctrination of extremists, before they were dispatched around the world to plot terror attacks. They describe Qatada as ‘the most successful recruiter in Europe’ and ‘a focal point for extremist fundraising [and] recruitment’.

Despite this, the London cleric and Al Qaeda’s chief European agent was paid £2,500 for being ‘unlawfully detained’ by the British Government, after being held indefinitely without trial following 9/11.

A ruling found that keeping him in Belmarsh prison, while he refused to return to his native Jordan, breached his human right to a fair trial. The Government is trying to deport him to Jordan, where he has been sentenced to jail in his absence on terror charges.

Meanwhile, Hamza is named as encouraging ‘his followers to murder non-Muslims’, in the documents, and yet continues to fight deportation to the U.S. because of Europe’s liberal human rights laws.

Extradition proceedings began six years ago, but he appealed to Strasbourg on the grounds that this would breach his human right to a fair trial because he would be given an ‘excessive’ sentence. The taxpayer continues to fund his stay in Belmarsh prison while his wife and eight children are claiming £680 a week in benefits and living in a council home in West London.

Three other mosques and an Islamic centre are also highlighted by senior commanders as places where young Muslim men were turned into potential terrorists.

Many obtained EU passports from other European countries such as France, but then travelled on to Britain to take advantage of the generous asylum system. The leaks help explain why U.S. intelligence services regard extremists in Britain as the greatest threat to American security.

The CIA is still so concerned about militant recruitment in the UK that it operates its own intelligence network and recruits its own agents among the Muslim population in Britain.

In a statement, the Pentagon said: ‘The previous and current administrations have made every effort to act with the utmost care and diligence in transferring detainees from Guantanamo.’

Bar on benefits lifted for East European migrants who will be able to claim £250 a week

Britain faces a new influx of migrants who could claim benefits of up to £250 a week within weeks of arriving.

From next Sunday, rules that ban Eastern Europeans from claiming unemployment, housing and council tax benefits until they have worked in the UK for 12 months are being lifted.

Critics are concerned about the risk of ‘benefits tourism’ by immigrants from the eight former Communist countries affected.

It is feared that the relaxed rules will attract new immigrants, as well as persuading the one million or so Eastern Europeans already in Britain to stay.

When the countries joined the EU in 2004, their citizens were barred from claiming jobseeker’s allowance or housing and council tax benefits in the UK until they had worked here for 12 months continuously. The stringent rules meant few qualified.

But the restrictions were time-limited – it was always intended they would end when a transition period finished seven years after the countries joined the EU.

From next Sunday they will be treated exactly the same as Britons. They will be able to claim the three benefits immediately, as long as they can prove they meet their own countries’ requirements for unemployment benefit, are seeking to work, and are ‘habitually resident’ here.

The ‘habitually resident’ qualification means they will usually have to have been here for three months.

The countries are: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. They still tend to be poorer than Western European nations and wages and benefits are less generous. Professor Krystyna Iglicka, an expert in migration from the Centre for International Relations in Warsaw, said: ‘These new benefit rules will make Poles feel even more at home in Britain and it is another reason why they will never leave.’

Kamil Lesniak, a 20-year-old barman from the south-west Polish town of Taenobrzeg, said he would be on his way to the UK ‘tomorrow’ if the British benefits system could match his monthly income of £450.

Eva Katona, 22, is considering moving to Britain from the Hungarian capital, Budapest, to work as a nanny or carer.

‘The unemployment benefit in England is higher than a salary here and I have been told I can go on the dole as soon as I get there,’ she said.

‘It is not my intention to do that but it is nice to have the sort of security you would not find here.’

Since the EU expanded in 2004, Britain has experienced its largest wave of migration, despite official predictions that only 13,000 workers would want to move here.

The Home Office said it did not know how many migrants would be attracted to Britain by the benefits rules changes, although it estimates they will cost £30million a year.

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of campaign group MigrationWatch UK, said: ‘The Government has not asked the question because it does not want to hear the answer.

‘This is a space that will need careful watching. There’s no way of knowing what effect this change will be but there is clearly a risk that the British welfare state will be exploited.’

The Department for Work and Pensions insisted that the rule changes will not mean people will be able simply to come to the UK and start claiming benefits – because there will be strict tests.

The rules have to be lifted because they conflict with the EU’s freedom of movement laws.

A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

'Very few people were true Nazis,' he said, 'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care.

I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'

We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 40 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

• Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
• Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them and the end of their world will have begun.
• Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts--the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit. Let us hope that thousands, world-wide, read this, think about it, and share it - before it's too late.

Family of 12 Ethiopian asylum seekers who have just landed in Britain get £1,460-a-week for vast London home

An Ethiopian family of 12 are being put up in a vast house costing the taxpayer almost £1,500-a-week just two months after arriving in Britain.

The couple and their 10 children are receiving a staggering £1,460-a-week housing benefit from the cash-strapped Tower Hamlets council in London - Britain's poorest borough.

The jobless family - who will also be receiving other handouts such as unemployment and child benefits - only arrived in London from Africa in the past few weeks.

It is yet another example of taxpayers having to pick up the bill for families to stay in vast houses in the capital.

And it comes as it emerged benefits payouts in Tower Hamlets have cost the taxpayer a mammoth £223million in just one year.

The Ethiopians, who are believed to be asylum-seekers, will cost taxpayers £76,000 if they are allowed to stay in the property for 12 months.

They received a weekly sum of £1,462,90 on March 4, according to the council's housing benefits claims department.

Another nine families in the borough received between £590 and £613 in the same week and the last annual figures show 10 families getting between £20,600 and £38,300 for 2008-09.

Tower Hamlets Opposition leader Peter Golds said: 'Paying a yearly rate of £76,000 for one family shows the ludicrous public money being paid to put people into expensive housing.

'It is utterly, utterly ridiculous what sort of properties the council must be housing these families in.'

A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions: 'We can't justify having welfare families in wealthy properties in expensive areas which hard-working families can't afford.

'We have to be fair. People on benefits have to make the same choices as the rest of the population.'

Benefits capping began on April 1 for all new claimants, but those already getting more than £20,000 are being given up to nine months to adjust.

The Ethiopian family would have to be among the nation's top earners on £230,000 before tax to afford to spend the same amount of money on rent or a mortgage.

Ray Bolger, mortgage consultant at John Charcol in the City, said: 'A family of 12 bringing in £1,460-a-week housing benefit demonstrates why the government is changing the benefit rules.

'Here is a family with 10 children who normally wouldn't be able to pay that amount - but the state is encouraging people like them to have many more children than they can afford.'

Tower Hamlets council refused to comment. A spokesman said: 'We ensure all claims are processed in line with current guidance.'

The top rate of housing benefit has now been slashed to £400-a-week under tough Coalition plans to rein in the vast costs.

The bill for housing benefit has spiralled from £14billion ten years ago to £21billion and is more than the country spends on policing and universities combined.

George Osborne overhauled the law after it emerged Toorpakai Saiedi, a jobless Afghan immigrant with seven children, was paid £2,875-a-week to live in a huge house in Acton, west London.

Muslims to burn effigies of royal couple on their wedding day

Muslim fanatics plan to hijack the royal wedding by burning effigies of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Extremists belonging to the group Muslim Against Crusades were behind the poppy-burning outrage on November 11 last year.

According to police, they have now vowed to turn the wedding celebrations into a ‘nightmare’. They plan a ‘forceful demonstration’ with thousands of protesters set to burn the Union Flag, images of the Crown, and the bridal couple.

Police are anticipating violent clashes as the Right-wing English Defence League have given notice that they intend to protest against the Muslim hardliners.

Scotland Yard chiefs are also preparing for trouble from anarchist yobs. Sixty troublemakers charged with public order offences at past demonstrations have already been banned from the City of Westminster on the day as part of their bail conditions.

Officers are considering a series of ‘pre-emptive strikes’, which could see anarchists being hauled from their beds and arrested on the morning of the wedding.

Almost 5,000 Met officers will be deployed to combat disorder on April 29. Some are expected to rove around the West End to prevent a repeat of the TUC march trouble last month, when thugs attacked businesses and shops, laying siege to the Ritz hotel and Fortnum and Mason.

Scotland Yard has already rejected an application by Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) to stage a demonstration outside Westminster Abbey, but officers are still in discussions about demonstrations by the group elsewhere.

While police can ban any major protests along the royal procession route, they are powerless to stop ‘static’ protests at nearby locations.

Yesterday MAC warned that if Muslim protesters were kept away from the route there could be violence.

The group has placed a countdown to the wedding on its website, along with a picture of a burning Union Flag and Prince Harry with a swastika emblem.

Under the heading ‘Muslims to disrupt Royal Wedding’, a statement on the site read: ‘We strongly advise Prince William and his Nazi sympathiser to withdraw from the crusader British military and give up all affiliation to the tyrannical British Empire.

‘We promise that should they refuse, then the day which the nation has been dreaming of for so long will become a nightmare.’

Last month MAC extremist Emdadur Choudhury, 26, was fined £50 for burning poppies on the anniversary of Armistice Day. Other members of the group chanted ‘British soldiers burn in hell’ during the two-minute silence.

MAC spokesman Abu Abujandal said of the Royal Wedding: ‘We are expecting thousands of people to protest. We may burn the flag and the Crown. We will make models of the Royal couple and burn those.’

But Met Assistant Commissioner Lynne Owens said flag burning will not be tolerated.

She said officers will use various stop and search powers to prevent missiles and weapons being brought to the celebrations.

Police are monitoring social networks for ‘chatter’ about the royal wedding and they are also liaising with the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, a police unit set up in 2006 to identify individuals who are obsessed with members of the royal family.

Miss Owens said the security picture for the big event was changing on a daily basis, with up to 80 VIPs requiring personal protection.

She said: ‘The current threat level is obviously severe. We have to be clear that anyone intending to come to London on the day of the royal wedding to commit criminal acts . . . we will act quickly, robustly and decisively so that it’s a happy event for everybody else.’
