Welsh Defence League takes to the streets

WDL burn uaf flag

More biased reporting from one of the daily filth...

Hundreds of people gathered yesterday to oppose the planned march against Islamic extremism by the Welsh Defence League.

A heavy police cordon in Swansea city centre kept the two groups apart this afternoon without major incident.

The Welsh Defence League had proposed to congregate in nearby Castle Square but their vociferous critics had flooded the area by early afternoon, leaving them with no choice but to assemble across the road.

It was the first time the newly-formed group have been out on the streets in Wales. At a similar event in Birmingham a few weeks ago trouble flared when the English Defence League and anti-fascism groups fought on the street.

So far there has been no repeat of those scenes in Swansea.

Plaid Cymru Assembly Member Leanne Woods was among those who had turned out to oppose the Welsh Defence League.

She said: 'This is the first time they have come to Wales and a lot of people from different organisations have come out to say far-right extremism isn't acceptable on the streets of Swansea.

'We are happy to live together with the Muslim community and we are not prepared to accept divisive and hate-based politics on our streets.'

Later in the stand-off, a man from the Welsh Defence League gathering scaled a building to confiscate an anti-Nazi flag that had been draped from a first floor window. The flag was then burned on the street.

Shortly after 5pm, police officers moved in and surrounded the Welsh Defence League before escorting them through the streets to the train station.

South Wales Police said a 25-year-old man was arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence and is currently being detained.

Chief Superintendent Mark Mathias said: 'I am pleased with the success the police operation today, which allowed the protests to pass off peacefully, whilst taking into the account the rights of the people of Swansea to go about their normal business.

'I would to thank them for patience and understanding for any disruption that was caused. People have the right to protest but overall the safety of the public and maintaining order is a priority.'

Asian Riot, Bury Park, Luton, 30/08/09

A 200-strong mob of Asian youths threw fireworks at riot police when violence broke out in a Luton park yesterday.

The Bedfordshire force sent 50 officers and six police horses to break up the disturbance in Bury Park, which began at 4.30pm and swiftly intensified. Police said that the confrontation was over by 7pm and two people had been arrested for public order offences.

The riot occurred a week after Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary, granted an order banning unofficial marches through Luton. The order, effective for three months, was made after reports that the English and Welsh Defence League, a right-wing group, planned to hold a march this weekend to protest against Islamic fundamentalism.

In March Islamists demonstrated in Luton against troops returning from Afghanistan.

Chief Superintendent Andy Frost, of Bedfordshire Police, said that he was extremely disappointed that some members of the Asian community had used the occasion as “an opportunity to commit disorder and undo much of the excellent work that has been done by the police, council and community leaders to ensure the day passed without incident.

“There has been extensive public consultation and work behind the scenes to ensure Luton was not the chosen venue for any kind of march or protest but it would seem that for no apparent reason disorder has broken out in Bury Park,” he added.

“Although this incident was contained within Bury Park it has again put Luton under the spotlight for the wrong reasons.

“The town has enjoyed excellent community relations for a number of years but it seems a small minority has let Luton down.”

Muslims comprise about 15 per cent of Luton’s population.

VIOLENCE RAGES AT BIRMINGHAM ANTI-ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALIST PROTEST

Reports are coming in that 33 people have been arrested so far at the Birmingham protest against Islamic Fundamentalism.

The protest was supposed to be a peaceful demonstrationby the EDL, but the uaf decided to counter protest by joining up with the muslim community. A recipe for disaster.

No surprises who were 'helping' the police? The fascist uaf. The BBC news site even has a link to the uaf site underneath the West Midlands Police link. Seeing as the BBC are in the governments pocket, the police and uaf are funded and paid for by the government, it's to be expected.

As you can see from the pictures above, the muslims just couldn't wait to rip up our flag and get stuck into our white boys.

Now the police have their pictures do you think they'll arrest these thugs?

More to follow later...

BIRMINGHAM DEMONSTRATION, SATURDAY AUGUST 8TH

Saturday 8th August, 6pm, Birmingham Bullring

The British Defence League have announced that the Birmingham demonstration set for Saturday 8th of August is to go ahead despite police harassment and raids on activists.

Demonstrators are to meet at the Bullring and march to the council offices to show disgust at the way extremists are allowed to harrass and insult our soldiers.

This is to be a peaceful demonstration and everyone is welcome regardless of colour or creed.

Let's show the lunatics in charge that we will NOT stand by and watch our country being dragged into the gutter by extremist muslims and their sympathisers.
