An inquiry into an alleged assault by a British National Party parliamentary candidate has been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Bob Bailey, the BNP's London organiser, was allegedly involved in a clash with some men in Harrow Road, Barking, on the eve of the general election.
The CPS said the men involved in the clash, which was filmed by the BBC, did not make any formal allegations.
Prosecutors found "there was no realistic prospect of conviction".
Mr Bailey and two other men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested over the incident in May.
A statement from CPS London said:
"When interviewed none of the parties involved in the incident captured on the BBC footage made any witness statements or formal allegations against each other. The only other evidence was the footage and after reviewing this we decided that there was no realistic prospect of conviction in line with the Code for Crown Prosecutors. We could not prove that Mr Bailey did not act in self-defence and the footage alone would not have been enough to do so. We therefore decided not to charge."
