Islam4uk, the group that planned to march on Wootton Bassett and headed by radical muslim, Anjem Choudary, is to be banned under counter-terrorism laws.
Home secretary, Alan Johnson, said he has proscribed islam4uk and other names it is known by – Al Muhajiroun, al-Ghurabaa and The Saved Sect.
According to the Terrorism Act 2000, a group can be banned if it "commits or participates in acts of terrorism, prepares for, promotes or encourages terrorism or is otherwise concerned in terrorism".
Groups can also be outlawed if they "unlawfully glorify the commission or preparation of acts of terrorism".
A spokesman for islam4uk said islam4uk was an "ideological and political organisation", and not a violent one.
You could have fooled me.
Choudary revels in any news of our soldiers being killed and is not afraid to say so. Choudary revels in the destruction of our country and condones the actions of cowardly jihadists, so why hasn’t he been arrested?
I have to wonder why the government has taken this decision now.
For years Choudary and his henchmen have been preaching their hatred in mosques, prisons and on our streets.
My guess is that the general election is soon to be held and Labour are trying to win back the voters who have deserted them in droves.
Too little, too late!
There is only one way to deal with the likes of Choudary and that is to deport them to muslim countries where they can live their Islamic dream until the end of their days, which of course leaves us to live ours in peace.
