Dog DNA catches murderer

A gang member who used a 'weapon dog' to murder a teenager has become the first killer to be convicted using DNA evidence from an animal.

Chrisdian Johnson, 22, unleashed the dog, called Tyson, to chase down Christopher Ogunyemi as the 16-year-old tried to flee across a park.

As the teenager lay helpless on the ground after being mauled by the powerful pet - a banned cross between a Staffordshire bull terrier and bull mastiff - Johnson stabbed him six times.

Police believe it is the first time a 'weapon dog' has been used in the course of a killing.
